ITANAGAR, Sept 3: Galo Welfare Society (GWS) has demanded the district administration
to try the accused rapist-
Describing the rape and murder of mother of three children at Garu village in West Siang district recently by accused Bohuna Das from Hurmoty, Assam, as barbaric and inhumane, GWS demanded that the accused must not be granted bail under any circumstances.
If the accused is released on bail, he will never reappear in the court, when he is summoned for trail, GWS said.
While demanding immediate conviction of the accused, GWS demanded exemplary punishment for the rapist killer.
Meanwhile, GWS has appealed to the AITF to convene a joint meeting of all the tribes based organizations to discuss the growing incidents of crime against women and girls child and find its preventive measures.
Meanwhile, the West Siang Women Welfare Society Aalo unit has condemned the rape and brutal murder of Ijar Karlo by one Babuna Das at Garu on August 29 last. The society advocated for the stringent punishment to the perpetrator of the gruesome murder. They have appealed the law enforcing authority not to grant any bail to the murderer and gear up the process of trial at the earliest to give justice to the family members of the deceased, adds Aalo DIPRO

Parents demand posting of regular teacher
ITANAGAR, Sept 3: The parents of Kendriya Vidalaya School Pasighat students met school authority and Deputy Commissioner of East Siang District recently and demanded for posting of regular subject teachers in the said school.
Presently, this school is run by three regular teachers for class I to Class XII.
The parents urged the school authority and Deputy Commissioner to take up immediate steps in this regard and added that, if the authority fails to fulfill their demand, mass withdrawal of students from KVS Pasighat shall be taken up by parents.

Demand for Chacko’s safe return grows louder, traders observe shutter down

ITANAGAR, Sept 3: The business community of Capital Complex led by Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) today took out a peaceful rally here demanding safe return of K P Chacko. The rally started from Akashdeep complex, Ganga and ended at O Point in the morning. Representatives from NGOs and likeminded people were also took part in the rally.
Chacko, a prominent businessman was kidnapped at gun point by a group of armed miscreants on Thursday evening from his Naharlagun rented accommodation. He was fired upon while being dragged out of home and it is believed that he suffered serious injury as a result of it.
The business community of Capital Complex including Banderdewa and Doimukh shut their shutter down for twelve hours as a mark of protest against deteriorating law and order situation and growing violence against business community in the state Capital. The complete shutter down in the Capital region signifies that the entire business community is demanding safe return of Chacko and stringent punishment to those who involved in kidnapping.

Doimukh Police seize huge consignment of ganja
ITANAGAR Sept 3: Doimukh Police seized more than a quintal of ganja from Doimukh town yesterday and arrested three persons in this connection.
Police seized a huge consignment of Ganja from two persons while they were transporting them on a motorcycle. Police also seized the motorcycle on which they were transporting the ganja, informed Padi Payang, OC, Doimukh Police Station.
On their disclosure, police seized another huge consignment of ganja from a house at NEEPCO Colony Doimukh.
The total quantity of ganja seized by police was more than 105 kg.
Those arrested were identified as Tali Masu, Nabam Yajo and Nabam Kaye. Later they were produced before the court of CJM, Yupia.
Police has registered a case at Doimukh Police Station against the arrested persons under section 20 NDPS Act 1985. Police has launched further investigation.

ITANAGAR Sept 3: The second edition of The Travelling Players, a children's film festival for the Northeast, began at VKV here yesterday.
This is the first time a film festival has travelled to Arunachal.
School students will be asked to write a review of the films seen by them at the festival. The best reviews will be published in a compilation focusing on the festival and documenting bits of film history.
Highlighting the aims and objective of the film festival, Shravan Kumar, CEO of CFSI said, “Although similar festivals are a regular feature in the rest of the country, the children in North East have been deprived a lot. We are happy to see that we are trying to reach out to the children in the country in various ways. It has been our constant endeavor to make children appreciate the aesthetics of cinema as an art”.
The festival aims to inculcate in children an interest in cinema. Another main objective of the film festival is to expose young students in these remote areas to cinema so that they develop a keen interest in films and the art of film criticism,
Besides VKVs in Capital Complex, the VKVs of Ziro, Sher and Yazali will host the festival and it will continue in the state till September 6.
The festival is an initiative of the Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) and was started last year.
Cine Darbaar, a welfare society working in the field of arts and culture having its head office at Delhi is the outreach partner of CFSI.

‘Stranger in My Land’ an eye opener for mainland Indians

A documentary film: ‘Stranger in My Land’ by state’s budding film maker Duyu Tabyo is refreshing and out of the box for the state.
When most of the state’s documentary films talk about progresses and problems, ‘Stranger in My Land’ revolves around the most talked, discussed and debated issue that is racial discrimination faced by many fellow citizens of the North East states of the country in the mainland.
Though the issue in the film is not new but a complete new treatment is given to this documentary film. Every person from the North East can relate to it with experiences they faced at times while being in metropolitan cities. The documentary takes up the issue of the North Eastern people’s experiences in big cities particularly in Delhi.
Excellent script, terrific narration, outstanding photography and good camerawork are some of the plus points of the film. Audience will surely be glued to the film from the beginning to till the end.
Screening of this documentary film in schools and colleges in the metro cities will

Produced under the banner of A CoreConxept Productions in association with Padi Ganda Pictures, written by Duyu Tabyo and Padi Ganda ‘Stranger in My Land’ (directed by Duyu Tabyo) will certainly encourage and inspire many film makers mainly from the North East to take up the projects with racial discrimination as the main theme and subject in their films and documentaries in days to come, “Stranger in My Land” is a must watch for everyone.
The only drawback back which can be observed is that the film maker has not given any importance to give statuary warning while showing one of the characters smoking.
In short, the film talks about situation when an entire nation fights against racial discrimination being faced by the Indians in different countries but unfortunately Indians are also going through the same fate of pain and humiliation at the hands of their own fellow citizens in some parts of their own country making them feel stranger in their own land. ZIRO, Sept 3: Ziro Valley School (ZIVAS) under the aegis of department of disaster management, Lower Subansiri district, organized an awareness rally on ‘disaster preparedness’ at Hapoli township here today.
Hundreds of students and faculty members of ZIVAS gathered near Govt. Hr. Sec. School Ziro and took out the rally carrying placards reading “Planting trees bring prosperity, cutting them brings disaster and insecurity”, “Combat climate change: conquer disaster”, “become friendly with nature, disaster will not occur in future”, “Earth quake does not kill but buildings do” etc.
The rally passed through the main thoroughfare of the Hapoli Township covering BSNL colony, Reserve line, Pai gate, Paraline, old apex bank road, main market etc, and culminated at Subansiri Stadium. Like previous years, this year also numbers of Raseng parties from Itanagar took part in ritual Ponung dance and other competitions organized by the Itanagar Solung festival celebration committee (ISFCC).
Earlier, in his address, ISFCC President Belatee Pertin motivated the young generation and urged them to make an earnest effort to develop requisite skills needed for any constructive and positive activities.
While advising the younger generation to inculcate the sense of dedication and commitment,
Pertin informed that, the Adi community is the torch bearer of modern civilization

Keep the promise
Dear Editor,
I want to draw the kind attention of Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh regarding increase of Sport quota from 5% to 10 %.
While most of the meritorious students stick to their books preparing for various examinations, there are few who are out in the open during sunny and rainy days sweating out to excel in their chosen Games & Sports. They are the ones who make us proud when they bring laurels to the state and the nation by winning medals. But hardly we remember them after few minutes of joyous moment and these meritorious sportspersons continue to live a life of a normal person once again.
The lesser marks they obtain in the examination or in the interview are not because they are less talented or less hard working but the fact is that they get lesser time for study and for preparations. Therefore, there is a need for reservation of quota for them as a reward for the hard work and effort they put in for the glory of the State and the Nation.
I thank the Govt, of Arunachal Pradesh for recognizing their hard work by keeping 5% job reservation in all State Govt. Department through the Sports Policy. I appeal to the Chief Minister to direct all the departments to implement the Sports Policy in letter and spirit
I would further like to remind the Chief Minister that on the occasion of Sports Day celebration in August 2013 he has given a commitment to the Sportspersons of the State that the Sports Quota will be increased from 5% to 10 %. Materialization of the commitment is still awaited. It is hoped that the 10% sports quota will be made mandatory from the forthcoming interviews for various posts in PWD and Forest Department.

Dear Editor,
Unlike earlier days, parents of today’s generation are aware of the importance of education and are becoming really concerned about their children. In such a rat race, every parent, rich or poor, allow their children to acquire education and let them study in the best educational institutes and colleges of the country and even abroad.
It is noteworthy that the parents spend half of their earnings on their children’s formal education. However, while the parents are spending and sacrificing for their children’s formal education, it is sad to know that they fail to impart informal education to their children. Informal education, which is equally important as formal education, is almost on the verge of losing itself from our society today. Parents of our society never bother to impart such education to their children because they never cared and realized its importance.
Today our society is prone to many nugatory acts and one of the way or the other, the parents are engaged in these. One of these unproductive activities which adversely affecting our generation is playing cards commonly known as “Rummy”. In many district of our state it has been accepted that “Rummy” is one of the most played card game. And yes, no doubt, we can see them playing “rummy” in almost every household and even in the streets. They play this game from mere amount of 10 rupees to thousands and lakhs. The parents become so engrossed in this game that they forget about their own children; they never get time to even talk with their own kids but spend whole day and night playing “rummy”. Their life is so occupied with this “rummy” that they never realize how this particular card game is affecting their children and the younger generation in general.
No doubt, the parents are doing their best in moulding their children through formal
education but where do they stand when it comes to imparting “informal education”?
Is influencing the children to play “rummy” the best way to mould them in the society?
I believe not! It is nothing but really-
If this tradition of playing “rummy” continues, our society will never be able to produce any complete man. Through relentless efforts of his lecturers & professors and his own determination, a man may be the topper in his college & universities but if this “rummy” remains the dominating factors of his households, he will never be at the top in the society.
Leave aside the classroom teaching of the teachers, parents are the most responsible teacher for making an individual stand tall in the society. But the parents of our society are more concerned about the winning the game of “rummy” instead of teaching their children the “right & wrong, “the do’s & don’ts” in the society.
It is sad to see our very own society losing its essence just because of this “rummy”. I don’t know how far my cry could be heard but it is my ardent request and plead to the entire concerned individual to reduce the daily playing of “rummy” and be more concern shaping of the younger generation.
I believe that it will be more productive to spend the time with the children instead of wasting time on “rummy”.

Declare results
Dear Editor,
Through your daily newspaper, I would like to write few sentences regarding the results. Almost now 2 months have passed since revaluation form was submitted in month of July 2014.
Still B.A, B.Com and B.Sc. revaluation result have not yet been declared by Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hill. Students are hoping that their results will come out positively but there is no announcement of the results while the academic session is running in full swing.
Therefore, I appeal to the Controller of Examination and RGU Authority to please declare the result as soon as possible.
